FAQ: Are there special key combinations I can use?Yes, there are. If you press the following combinations while turning the power on, you get access to special screens/functions:
 |  +  : Show the diagnostic screen (shown here on the left)
 + : Erase all user data
 +  + : Factory reset, erase all user data and the GPS almanac (does not function in firmware 2.12beta and higher)

Here's the reply I got from Garmin about the master reset: The Master Reset sequences are being removed from our units (they can damage the GPS receiver board if used too often), and we can only perform them via a software application. I believe the latest version of the GPS V's software does not have a Master Reset sequence.
|  | During normal operation, you can press  and the V will prompt you to navigate HOME.
This will only work when you have a waypoint named "HOME" though, even when the V is set to another language.

Another shortcut is to press twice to get the backlight on, where once only displays the backlight/contrast menu.
