FAQ: can I use the Quest for hiking and geocaching?

Yes, you can! Holding the Quest while walking is actually not that bad, despite the horizontal alignment. If you fold out the antenna to its 135 degree position and place the Quest in the palm of your left hand, the antenna rests on the edge of your hand and your thumb can be used to fixate it.

For geocaching you need to know that the Quest does have a compass pointer, but it only shows when routing off-road. And the Quest rounds the distance to the next turn above 15 meters at 5 meter increments. At higher distances, the rounding goes up to 10 meters, 50 meters or more. So, when you are 20 meters from the cache, you need to move 5 meters in the right direction to get to the 1 meter increment display. It takes a short while to get used to it, but it works fine.
