FAQ: what are the differences between the Quest (1) and Quest 2?The Quest 2 is actually much like the Quest 1, it has all the same functions. The differences are: - The Quest 2 comes pre-loaded with City Navigator North America NT (which features full coverage of the entire United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico) or City Navigator Europe NT (all City Select Europe maps). You don't need to select part of the City Select maps to load, they all come pre-loaded!
- The Quest 2 is using City Navigator instead of City Select, which means you get the extra exit description, midway barrier info and time dependent entry info.
- The Quest 2 has 140MB (US Quest 2) or 512Mb (Atlantic Quest 2) memory for loading additional maps, like Topo maps or custom maps. This is actually more memory the Quest 1 has for all maps...
- The Quest 2 is compatible with the Garmin POI Loader software, which enables you to be alerted when getting near POI's. This way, you could be warned when you get near a radar speed trap.
- The Quest 2 comes with City Select NT maps pre-loaded and does also come with City Navigator maps for use on the PC! So, planning a route can be done on the Quest2 and on the PC, just like with the Quest 1. Note: if you don't got the PC software when purchasing a Quest 2, ask Garmin for it. The earlier Quest 2's didn't have the PC software by default.
- The Quest 2 has all voice languages loaded, instead of only one.
The Quest 2 has a "dual-position display mode", meaning it can display a coordinat in two formats simultaniously. - The Quest 2 is more expensive than the Quest 1.
- Due to the larger map memory and the custom POI feature, the Quest 2 seems a bit slower than the Quest 1 (especially in map screen redraws in built-up area's).
- The Quest 2 comes with a different suction cup mount, which is easier to get the Quest into and out of, but also is more prone to being "adjusted" when you use the Quest.
So, the Quest 2 has more memory and the POI Loader, which is quite nice! Now Garmin by default also adds the PC software for creating routes, just like with the Quest 1, it is a killer GPS!
