Built in 1997, with ABS, heated handlebar grips, Rider's Information Display (RID), cylinder protectors and black plastic saddlebags. Imported into the Netherlands in 2002 (probably from Germany), I'm the 3rd dutch owner. Bought 26-10-2007, at 67.000km's, looking like new with only a few minor scratches at the beak and cylinderprotectors and a few scars on one of the cases (I guess one of the previous owners landed the bike on it's side). Came with new Anakee tires, new battery, fully serviced, bought from Keri in Zaandam.

I nicknamed my GS  , morphing my geocaching name Grote Smurf (Papa Smurf in english) and Gelände Sport into one name. =8-)

The Garmin Quest is mounted above the instruments, with a MigSel mount, a short RAM connector and a RAM Quest mount.

The Garmin Quest is connected (through a twin stereo music lead. Isolated for bike powered music/GPS systems) to an Autocom AV Pro (kit 300) intercom system, so I can hear the voice directions in my helmet (suppoesedly up to and over the top speed of the GS!). I can also answer phonecalls while riding, since I also connectged an Autocom Bluetooth dongle (part 1273), to wihich my SonyEricsson K750i connects. No voice dialing though, seems not to be supported via Bluetooth. The cable going up is the connection for an MP3 player, the grey DIN socket is for a PMR transceiver (which I don't have connected yet). My helmet's speakers and microphone connect to the black DIN socket on the bottom, which is just below the saddle normally. The connection for the passengers helmet is tucket away below the passenger saddle for now (since I don't have a passenger for now). The 12v power is connected to fuse number 7 (heated grips), so it is active whenever the key is in the ON position (our first choice, fuse 2, is only active when the lights are actually on). The complete Autocom setup is fixed to the air filter housing under the saddle, the only place with enough room.

I've since then added a Kenwood TH-F7E HAM transceiver, which has two receivers. One will be used for FM radio, the other for PMR bike-to-bike communications. The transceiver is mounted on the motor with a RAM BC-1 Belt Clip holder and connected to the Autocom AV Pro with an interface cable (part 1431, the coiled version, but you can also use 1430 without coils) and a PTT/VOX interface lead (part 1457) to add PTT to the VOX capabilities of the Autocom system.
