Transparent european radartraps map

Screenshot of the Mapsource Flitsservice map © Robert Elsinga

This Transparent POI type of map was made from a list of locations the dutch police uses frequently to catch speeding motorists, as shown by the Flitsservice website. It should display on top of all normal Garmin maps. This mapset uses the 672 projectcode in the registry. Thanks to Nuno Pedrosa for his help on creating the map. The locations are (c) www.flitsservice.nl, the labels are manually added by Robert Elsinga and extracting them from the map is not allowed! The map now (since july 2007) also includes all fixed and mobile locations from Radarfalle/scdb.info for all of Europe.

Please consider becoming a (paying) member of the sites whose locations are used:

SCDB.info - the most up-to-date speed camera database in Europe for your Navi

www.radarfalle.de

The map contains Danger Area icons for thge dutch mobile locations, with a description containing the type of trap (LSR = laser, RDR = radar), the road number or town name, the mile marker (hectometerpaal) or street and (if on the highway, Axx roads) the general direction (N/S/E/W) of the radar/laser trap. If the trap is inside a road construction area, where fines are doubled, WW (for WegWerkzaamheden) is added. The german mobile locations are also marked with a Danger Are icon, all fixed radar locatiopns are marked with a Red Navaid icon and the maximum speed as label text.

Note: this map is updated infrequently. It will not warn you in any way if you approach one of the locations, you will have to keep an eye on the map display yourself. It is also not 100% complete, so it can not be relied on completely. Always use your good sense of judgment! Always comply with local laws, do not use this map if it is illegal,

Updated: 2007-08-21, now containing 22000+ locations in all of Europe. The map is now called "European Accident Hotspot map" in both Mapsource and the GPs, since the police will only check your speed at unsafe locations, right? An advantage is that it does not sound like a radrtrap map when checked by the police. =8-)
