Garmin World Routable basemap v3

Screenshot of the Mapsource World Routable Basemap v3 map © Garmin

I downloaded the World Routable Basemap from http://www.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=461. It is originally for the iQue 3600, but can not be used inside Mapsource originally. But a couple of minutes work with MapDekode to generate a TDB file and here is the result. =8-) This mapset uses the 679 projectcode in the registry. This map is only for display purposes on the PC... as you can not select it to upload it to the GPS...  If you actually want to have a basemap on your Garmin GPS, you can use Garmin Worldmap (which is *not* routable but covers the whole world and can be uploaded to any mapping Garmin GPS), buy the regional version of your GPS (which contains a basemap is it has mapping capabilities) or buy an iQue (and use the original version mentioned above).

Click on the image to download the mapset (over 20MB!). If you have a homemade map you would like to put up here, feel free to mail me!

The IMG file is (c) Garmin (I guess, it is mentioned nowhere on the download page). But, since anyone can download the ZIP-file with the IMG from their site anyway... I could have put up the installer with only the TDB and registry entries here without a problem, but this saves the user another download and some work. I snet Garmin Cartography a mail to ask which version they would like to see here. =8-)

Note: DO NOT CONTACT GARMIN FOR SUPPORT on this map. The installer isn't created by Garmin, only the map file comes from their site. A basemap is also meant as a basic map, showing only large roads and stuff. It is also not as accurate as City Navigator or Topo maps, but that is as designed (to save space). Live with it. Be happy you can now use it in Mapsource. =8-)

Note: since Mapsource version 6.14 the map is no longer routable in Mapsource... I don't know what broke this and do not intend to fix this.

Please read the installation notes!

A user from www.zumoforums.com named denny sent me a Macintosh version of this map. Please read the enclosed Instructions.html for details on installing the map.
