HowTo: create a waypoint somewhere else on the map screen

We start at the map screen, where a black marker indicates the current location.
We then start to scroll and a white pinter appears. We move this pointer to the location where we want to create a waypoint. Then we press Enter briefly. Note: holding Enter creates a waypoint at our current location.
If the pointer is not pointing at a map feature

We are now creating a waypoint at the location of the pointer. Edit the properties if you want. When finished, scroll to OK and press Enter. The creation of a waypoint by this method functions only if the new waypoint is not located on a map feature.
As you can see, the waypoint is created at the location of the pointer.
If the pointer is pointing at a map feature

This is when the GPS V shows a little white tooltip. The sequence for creating a waypoint is a bit different in this situation. Start by briefly pressing Enter, just as before.
The V now shows a window with a description of the map feature (in this example, an address). Press Menu now.
Now select Save As Waypoint and press Enter. For the curious: Project Waypoint enables you to project a waypoint (create a waypoint a given distance in a given compass direction) from the location of the pointer.
Now edit the properties if you want and select OK and press Enter when done.
